Janet Kersnar is executive editor of The Business of Fashion, the online magazine and business intelligence/information agency dedicated to the global fashion industry. Previously she she held several leadership roles in S&P Global Market Intelligence's digital newswire, all aimed at building out sector-focused news coverage in the Americas, EMEA and Asia. Janet has also been a reporter and editor at The Economist Group and The Wall Street Journal, among other blue-chip publishing houses in San Francisco, Berlin, Paris and London.
Jane B. Singer is Professor of Journalism Innovation at City, University of London. A former print and online journalist, her research has traced the evolution of digital journalism since the mid-1990s, with a focus on journalists’ changing roles, perceptions, norms and practices.
A business journalist by background, Adam Tinworth has been working on the digital transformation of media businesses for 17 years. In particular, he specialises in the discipline we now know as “audience engagement” — use of digital tools to deepen relationships between publishers and audiences. He’s been a visiting lecturer at City, University of London for the past decade, and has been writing media commentary at One Man & His Blog for nearly two decades.
An award-winning former journalist, Chris has more than 18 years’ experience in journalism, PR and public affairs. Over this time Chris has been involved in breaking many exclusive stories in national and regional media as both a journalist and PR expert. Chris is a passionate advocate of quality journalism and the emergence of data journalism as a platform to tell engaging stories which can inform and influence policymaking. In recent years he has led PR campaigns on behalf of the Mayor of London, Transport for London, and the Northern Powerhouse Partnership. In 2018 founded Be The Best Communications, a date-fuelled PR and public affairs agency based in Manchester.
Dominic Young is CEO of Axate, which is making consumer revenue streams available for any publisher by removing all the barriers – including subscription. He has spent his whole career working to maximise the value of media content, including stints as CEO of The Copyright Hub and a long career at News UK where, among other things, he headed up the Intellectual Property team, was responsible for syndication and licensing of content, was head of Strategy and initiated Project Alesia. He was brought up by journalists and was briefly a photographer so has spent his whole life subsumed in the world of newspapers and creativity.
Dr James Morris is Pathway Director of the MA, Interactive Journalism at City, University of London. Previously, he was course leader for the BA in Web Media Production at Ravensbourne University. He has a PhD in Philosophy, Art and Social Thought from the European Graduate School in Switzerland, a Master's in Media Arts from the New School in New York, USA, and a Bachelor's in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics. He has worked extensively as a technology journalist, including spending five years as editor of the UK's leading computing magazine, PC Pro. He is now editor of WhichEV.net, a magazine website with over 1 million readers per month aimed at promoting the uptake of electric vehicles, as well as being a regular contributor to Forbes on this subject.
BLeon is a former World News Anchor for CNN International and CNBC Europe. He was Founder CEO of satellite TV channels, the Baby Channel and Simply TV. Leon has launched a number of single genre web TV channels, including Beauty Zone, Health Zone, Book Zone and Theatreland TV. Presently, he works as consultant on digital content strategy, while researching for a PhD in an area of Artificial Intelligence and Journalism.
Richard is the founder of Caseman Communications and has advised CEOs, prime ministers, ministers and Royal Offices in the UK and the Middle East. He is the former Managing Editor of The Sunday Times, The Sun and board member of Times Newspapers Ltd. During the Leveson Inquiry, he was News Corporation's lead executive managing all its legal submissions. As a senior civil servant, Richard has also worked for the Cabinet Office and Foreign Office on assignment in Jordan, Lebanon and Oman.
Roz McKenzie is a journalist and a trainer of new reporters entering the industry. She has worked in the regional and national press for over 20 years, as well as playing a lead role in delivering apprenticeships in journalism. Roz is the apprenticeship training manager at PA Training (part of PA Media) and sits on the NCTJ's Journalism Qualifications Board.
